Football Kenya Federation (FKF) will officially protest against the mistreatment Kenyan players received at the hands of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). FKF plans to write a detailed letter to world football governing body Fifa and explain the misconduct of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ahead of their key 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles on Saturday.

Earlier, FKF chief executive officer Michael Esakwa wrote a letter to the Nigerian FA explaining how Kenyan team was neglected. FKF official and head of delegation in Nigeria, Hussein Terry, claims the Kenyan football team was extremely mishandled by their hosts against Fifa statutes.

“We are taking the matter with Fifa. This is a way to frustrate us. The conditions set by Fifa are very clear that visiting teams should be accommodated at a five star hotel and must be accorded training facilities but Nigeria ignored all these,” said Terry.

Terry said the players were forced to eat chilly food with extra pepper, which they obviously had to decline to eat. He said the team expected much better from Nigeria. They are lodging a formal complaint. Prior to the trip, the Kenyan team was promised a connecting flight to Calabar, the venue of the match upon arrival in Lagos but the host could not follow up with the plan.

On the other hand, the Nigeria Football Federation has denied all allegations and claimed to have received the Kenyan team at the Murtala Muhammed InternationalAirport, Lagos on time.

NFF’s Assistant Director (Media), Ademola Olajire said: “We really didn’t want to be seen to exchange words with the Kenyans on non-existent issues. Nigeria is known to be good hosts at any time and we have not done less for the Kenyan delegation. Our protocol officials were at the Lagos airport to receive them, and took them to the Silver Grandeur Hotel, which is not a substandard hotel as being claimed.”
