This innovative Antics production brings one of literature’s earliest surviving works, the Epic of Gilgamesh, to the Ford’s outdoor stage in an exciting street dance/multimedia theater mash-up. Choreographed by artistic director Amy “Catfox” Campion, the ancient Mesopotamian poem becomes a dance-theater production divided into 11 chapters, telling the epic story of King Gilgamesh, who faces a series of triumphs and trials that send him on a quest for immortality. Illuminated Manuscript also features an animated short film by Sapphire Sandalo, plus original music and graffiti art. Antics dancer Gilyon “Gillatine” Brace-Wessel takes on the title role, supported by a talented cast of nine other artists.
