Famed French piano duo the Labèque Sisters join conductor Bernard Labadie and the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a night of beautiful music at the Hollywood Bowl. Katia and Marielle are favorite guest performers of the Phil, having performed with the orchestra both at the Bowl and at Walt Disney Concert Hall. The innovative pair are responsible for well over thirty record releases and for expanding the repertoire for two pianos, with several pieces written especially for them. Tonight’s An Evening of Elegance under the stars opens with the overture to Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and wraps with Schubert’s Symphony No. 5. In between, the Labèques take the spotlight for Mendelssohn’s Concerto in E for Two Pianos, penned when the famed composer was just 14.
