BJP president Rajnath Singh and senior party leader Arun Jaitley visited the Mahabodhi temple on Tuesday. The two senior politicians went to see rescue and rehabilitation process after multiple blasts rocked the Bodh Gaya temple town on Sunday.

“I condemn the blasts and demand that the government provide all possible security to the Mahabodhi Temple,” Rajnath Singh said.

Immediately after the terrorist attacks, BJP members lashed out at Bihar government for overlooking security warnings issued by central agencies. A number of politicians also started a debate on social media and implied that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar should take responsibility for the matter.

“It is a serious issue that central agencies had warned about this attack and given specific inputs that Bodh Gaya would be attacked and still no proper arrangements were made (by the state government),” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

On the other hand, Mr Kumar said that security lapse cannot be the cause of these blasts as there were adequate precautionary measures taken to increase security at the Mahabodhi temple. He said the government considered all the security warnings seriously and deployed forces to tackle any unforeseen incident.

“This is the first incident of serial blasts in Bihar. All angles are being investigated. We shouldn’t speculate on who was responsible for the serial blasts. Let the NIA complete its probe and then the culprit will be brought to justice,” CM Kumar told the media.
