Hon. Sam Felix Makuja presented the report covering July to December 2013 following a persistent demand for it by the state law makers. The minister told legislators that the state government spent 51% of the approved SSP164, 197,983 for half of the Financial Year 2013/2014.
This presentation according to Hon. Makuja is part of the Ministry’s activities to enhance transparency of budget execution – Public Financial Management Reforms undertaken across the 10 states.
Hon. Makuja revealed that during the quarter of the Financial Year, the state restructured a number of institutions which resulted to considerable reduction in government expenditure.
Hon. Makuja said the strict budget discipline being enforced is to facilitate health services, improve livelihoods, safety and provide equal opportunities for social and economic progress.
According to the minister, new funding modalities in EES are county block grants, special grants for education, health, and water aimed at taking towns to the people as promised by the late Dr. John Garang.
