Three Suspects Charged with Violent Sex Assaults against Prostitutes

The Surrey RCMP has announced to have charged three men with 17 criminal offences in connection to two violent sex assaults against prostitutes that took place in 2012. According to the RCMP, both cases had visible similarities as in both cases the victimized women were picked up and taken to secluded areas before being assaulted.

Simranpreet Singh Dhillon was charged with two counts of sex assault with a weapon, two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of uttering threats of death or bodily harm, two counts of unlawful confinement, aggravated sexual assault and robbery times two. Whereas the other two suspects, Sukhraj Singh Chahal and Gurjinder Sodha, were both charged with sexual assault with a weapon, unlawful confinement and robbery.

The first incident reportedly took place on Aug. 12, 2012, when a woman was picked up from near King George Boulevard and 91st Avenue, and taken to Colebrook Road before being attacked. Primary suspects in that case are Dhillon and Chahal. Whereas in another incident that took place on Oct. 18, 2012, a different woman was picked up near King George Boulevard and 105th Avenue, driven to the 12800-block of Colebrook Road and attacked. The victim allegedly suffered serious injuries and had to spend a long time in hospital recovering. The accused in the case are Dhillon and Sodha. Police are concerned that there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to contact the Surrey RCMP Child Abuse and Sexual Offence (CASO) Unit.
