The Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt has planned to deport all South Sudanese youth who have turned to committing crimes in Cairo.
The spokesperson in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mawien Makol Ariik, has confirmed that the Egyptian government is in the process of identifying some individualcriminals to be deported to Juba in the near future.
“Our government is in agreement with Egypt that these criminals who have turned to committing crimes in a foreign country should be deported. But there are some legal procedures that the security personnel of Egypt should take into consideration so that we can come to know the level of crimes committed by those youths,” Makol said.
Makol said that when these youths return here they will be put in detention centres before they are proven free by law and that they will be judged as per the crimes committed. The two national Ministries of Gender and Interior will try to train them with better livelihoods skills to depend on.
Sources in Egypt have said there are some groups of South Sudanese nationals who have assembled themselves and attack innocent people in the city. The sources described them as criminals and that they have carried out a number of raids on different individuals some of whom are South Sudanese.
“Last month alone we have three students, South Sudanese nationals who have become victims. Two students got their hands cut by sword and one died instantly from the criminals’ assault on him,” the source revealed.
Dengdit Ayok, a South Sudanese journalist, was last month attacked and chopped by criminals with swords on 11 August in Cairo. Dengdit was taken to Ain Al- Shams Hospital in Cairo treatment and surgical services.
His companion who was with him also sustained a knife stab; his teeth were also broken in the attack.Makol said that hose who attacked Dengdit in Cairo are being arrested and that they will face the law.
Makol added that most of the South Sudanese youth, who have now turned themselves into outlaws, were either born in Egypt or they should be those who have no activities for engagement in that foreign country.
“We are organizing their programs. The national Ministry of Gender and the Ministry of Interior are doing a lot of preparation so that these youths should be changed into better human beings. Some orientationtrainings will be carried out so that they change their minds and attitudes that seem not to be acceptable in our societies,” Makol added.
“As they arrive here they should not be just damped into prisons. We shall give them chances for some courses that will benefit them and their parents. I want to inform our people that they should not panicthat those youth will come to affect their peaceful living. They will be engaged,” he concluded.
