Royce Hall at UCLA (Los Angeles, CA)

"Fumbling Towards Ecstasy"

Canada’s second-largest ballet company, Alberta Ballet, pirouettes into UCLA’s Royce Hall with Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, a tribute to the music of Sarah McLachlan. Set to a prerecorded soundtrack of 13 of the Grammy, Juno and Gemini Award-winning artist’s liltingly lovely tracks (including new songs from her upcoming album), this shimmering work of choreography traces the spiritual odyssey of a woman’s life from first romantic encounter to mature love. Following similar, triumphant tributes to such artists as Joni Mitchell and Sir Elton John, Alberta Ballet have proven themselves masters of pairing evocative movement with pristine popular music.
