South Pasadena High School-Auditorium (South Pasadena, CA)
Step inside the mile-a-minute world of New York City circa 1929 when Dave Moreno accompanies the Harold Lloyd silent film, Speedy, on the mighty Wurlitzer organ. Part of the “holy trinity” of silent comedians along with Chaplin and Keaton, the bespectacled Lloyd is hilarious as an ex-soda jerk who bounces from Coney Island to Yankee Stadium to the mean streets of Manhattan in a series of comic misadventures (one of which memorably involves Babe Ruth himself). Speedy was filmed both in Hollywood and on location in New York City. Though the film is silent, the experience is anything but with Moreno, an organist for over 30 years, performing the jazzy score. This nostalgic evening takes place in a gorgeous art deco structure built in the 1930s: the South Pasadena High School Auditorium.
