Juba 14th May, 2015. South Sudan's parliament said next week on thursday it will hold a special session to question Central Bank governor Kornelio Koryom and Finance Minister Designate David Deng Athorbie to explain how the government will deal with the rise in consumer prices.

Community Empowerment for Progress Organization appreciates the move done by the national parliament. It is remarkable despite the fact that it is later. This is good response to our today’s (Thursday 14, May, 2015) morning advocacy for calling the national parliament to act by questioning the relevant government authorities about the game of the dollars. Yes the war have impacted negatively on the economy of the country but also some individuals in public office are abusing the public office powers for creating parallel market for dealing with dollars as an opportunity of making quick capital (money)

Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO said if the situation of the dollars continue to be increasing daily high, this means a lot to the standard of living of the normal citizens that does not have public office power for manipulating choices for securing reasonable or  better living. Besides the war serious implications on the economic sector such as oil production, but still there are some individuals who planned to gain more money due to the situation. These individuals should be held accountable.

The concrete solution to the current “man made economic crisis” of South Sudan is primarily depending on the hands of the warring parties’ leadership. Delaying peace or thinking of war option as method of settling the political misunderstanding or difference is a life threatening. The leadership of the warring parties should proof to the public that their love for control of political power does make them to compromise with the lives of the massive innocent population. Mr. Yakani stressed

CEPO is urging the warring parties of South Sudan to demonstrate responsible for achieving peace timely for the sake of rescuing the lives of the innocent citizens. The current ongoing issue of public cry on the rise of commodities and services prices in the market is serious. Indictors for that are justified by the increase of incidents of arm looting of vehicles along roads linking to major towns across the country. Citing examples Juba-Torit road, Juba-Kajo-kaji Road and Juba-Yamabio road etc. The new development of public strike such as of Wau 14th May, 2015 however it is termed by the government as political motivated situation
