From the Oscar-worthy to the Razzie-worthy, the Throwback Thursdays Film Series has something for all tastes. First up, Laemmle Music Hall hosts the infamously campy Showgirls, starring Elizabeth Berkley as she desperately tries to leave behind her Saved by the Bell image by portraying an ambitious Vegas dancer. Robocop director Paul Verhoeven personally accepted his Razzie for Worst Director, and the film was later crowned the Worst of the Decade. Then, doing a total 180: in one of the most acclaimed performances ever put on film, Robert De Niro stars as self-destructive boxer Jake La Motta in Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull. Shot in absolutely gorgeous black and white, the film remains one of the master director’s most loved. Come early to hit up the food trucks.
