Dutch film with sex scenes creates controversy
Michel Houellebecq, the French writer, lost another lawsuit in Amsterdam against the Dutch artist collective Kirac for his participation in a film featuring sex scenes.
The film, which includes Houellebecq and his wife, was the subject of controversy, with the writer seeking to have it banned. However, the judge ruled against him, rejecting his claim that he was unaware of what he was agreeing to, having been drunk and depressed at the time of signing the contract.
The film was made by Kirac, which is known for its critical approach to the art world and has previously courted controversy. Houellebecq’s behavior and that of his wife during the filming were described as “fascinating” by Jini van Rooijen, who appeared in the movie. Houellebecq’s penchant for controversy and the question of whether he is a genius or provocateur has been a topic of discussion in France for years.
