Chinese Peanut and Oyster Porridge Recipe

Peanut and Oyster Porridge 

Serves 2 to 3


25g dried oysters

50g raw peanuts

½ cup rice

1 inch piece ginger, shredded

1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

2 cups water

Salt and pepper to taste


Wash oysters, peanuts, and rice. Soak in a cooking pot with 2 cups water for 1 to 2 hours (to soften them and reduce cooking time)

Put to boil and then simmer gently for about 30 minutes until peanuts are tender and rice is broken up. Add salt and pepper to taste.

To serve, sprinkle with sesame oil and shredded ginger.
