Joseph Kiju, a Deputy Head Teacher at the school said the area was agreed by the state government to be leased to the local investor.
Police were forced to fire bullets to disperse the protesting students.
It is believed that the local investor wants to establish a medical center in the area.
“The students destroyed bags of cement which they found in the container and burnt some mattresses,” said one of the students.
Vehicles and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area due to the tense situation as the students are sent home in until further notice.
