The first charge against Cst. Mantler is in relation to a January 7, 2011 incident with the arrest of Mr. Buddy Tavares.
The second charge stems from an incident that occurred in August 30, 2010 in Kelowna. The complainant made an allegation of inappropriate use of force against Cst. Mantler. The allegation was investigated by the “E” Division Professional Standards Unit. As a result of that ongoing investigation, police commenced a criminal investigation in late November 2010. All circumstances surrounding that investigation were forwarded to Crown Counsel for their review resulting in the charge approval announced yesterday.
A third incident, the investigation stemming from allegations made by Mr. Jeremy Packer against Cst. Mantler, has been investigated and is currently being reviewed by Crown Counsel.
The RCMP Internal Code of Conduct Investigation in relation to this third incident, as well as the other two previously mentioned, are ongoing.
While attending an unrelated conference in Kelowna, the Commanding Officer of RCMP in BC made a statement yesterday following the announcement of the charges against Cst. Mantler. D/Commr. Peter Hourihan said that “this type of behavior, if substantiated in court or in our internal code of conduct, is extremely concerning for me. It’s disappointing at a very minimum and is behavior that falls well short of the expectations that I or any officers [within the RCMP] and staff and majority of members have.”
He adds, “In the vast majority of cases our members go out every day to do the very best that they can. That is the expectation they have of themselves and it is definitely an expectation that I have of them. And I haven’t spoken to every member or even the majority of members or anything like that, but I can well presume that this is as concerning to them as it is to me. No more, no less.”
Cst. Mantler has been suspended with pay since January 10, 2011. He has been served a summons and will be making his first court appearance in Kelowna on April 26, 2011.
Well, it’s nice to see the RCMP are doing the right thing. I was afracomment_ID they’d let this slcomment_IDe. Think of all the crap they’ve done off camera that they get away with.
He’s been on pacomment_ID leave since jan 10, and being a 3 year member, his paygrade is $78,000 per year. That means he’s been getting a pacomment_ID holcomment_IDay of $6500 per month for kicking an old man in the face who was on all fours.
They should stop his pay. We wouldnt get pacomment_ID. We’d be fired and charged immediately. Notice how fast they charged the person they arrested, then tried to smear him with BS domestic charges. Plus the old man had to spend days in jail with a smashed in face before getting bail.
Kelowna is a British Drug Town – Period. The Royal family and the house of Lords are addicted to drug money.
The Judges in Kelowna foster the environment that creates a fractured society..so that none can congeal and organize against them.
Keep them off balance is the British Way.
The RCMP are just a bunch of thugs loyal to the Royals as they rape the country and harvest the wealth of the land.
Canadians are colonial slaves, addicted to the drugs that the British Royals sell accross the globe.
Mantler is just a symptom, and it was difficult for the RCMP to be prosecuted as that send the message to the other thugs that they may not be supported as they keep Canadians beat down.
