Thursday brought heavy rain over the national capital. The monsoon showers caused problems which resulted in waterlogging and traffic jams which continued till Friday morning. During the Thursday night, the rainfall was normal on certain parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), including south of Delhi and Noida which had experienced heavy to light rainfall.
Because of waterlogging the road from IGI Terminal-3 toward Mehram Nagar was closed.
Waterlogging in Najafgarh and Nangloi Road were seen as the heavy rains hit these areas of Dwarka. Traffic movement was quite slow from Badarpur to Aaligaon and traffic jam was also seen in some areas, as reported, on Akshardham, Patparganj, Mayur Vihar Phase II, National Highway 24, Mori Gate red light, Baraf Khana Chowk, Mall Road Chowk, Jhangir Puri Metro station, Hanuman Setu and Tis Hazari.
India Gandhi Airport was flooded with heavy rain as airport’s the T3 terminal was badly affected. The airport Met department said that the area witnessed 117 mm of extraordinary rains between 2.35 pm and 3.40 pm.
The Director Airport Met department, R K Jenamani said, “It was a cloudbrust like situation. Since 1959, this was the highest rainfall recorded at the IGI airport."
