The Wiltern (Los Angeles, CA)

Originally brought to Broadway by Baz Luhrmann for the director’s production of La Bohème in 2002, operatic pop star Alfie Boe has since wowed audiences worldwide as Jean Valjean in the 25th anniversary concert for Les Miserables and in the English National Opera production of that show. He’s also scored hits with solo CDs mixing classic arias with Great American Songbook and Broadway tunes, like “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Maria,” while throwing in a duet with rock stars like Robert Plant for good measure. Meanwhile, “the Bad Boy of Opera” has managed to land songs on the Downton Abbey soundtrack, sing “O Sole Mio” for the Queen’s Jubilee and is set to release yet another CD, Storyteller, coming hot on the heels of an autobiography and a 2011 disc. He’ll slow down just long enough to make a concert appearance at L.A.’s gorgeous Wiltern.
