Mark Twitchell, a filmmaker convicted of murder and sentenced for imprisonment of twenty five years, is now attempting to retrieve the video clips of his numerous film projects that police took in their custody during the investigation. Whereas, the police has assured that they’ll do whatever it takes to keep that from happening.
The video clips of Edmonton filmmaker were detained by the police during their investigation of the murder of Johnny Altinger, a crime of which Twitchell was convicted for last year. Twitchell has now shown interest of getting those hard drives, full of footage shot for a number of projects back. A Journalist who claims to be in touch with Twitchell, Steve Lillebuen, explained during a phone interview that “he’s had a friend try and get them back from police.” He added that “the police are now involved in trying to stop him from getting this footage back.”
The chief investigator of Mark Twitchell’s case, Staff Sgt. Bill Clark, asserted that “my personal opinion, it’s Mickey Mouse” and “[It’s] Mickey Mouse filmmaking.” He clearly assured that “I don’t think he should, I think the public would be outraged at something like that.” According to the case proceedings of last year, Twitchell killed Altinger by luring her online, in a series of events that mirrored the plot of the movie ‘House of Cards’, which he was working on at the time.
Lillebuen informed that Twitchell is intending to seek court order forcing the police to return the footage. Lillebuen explained that “he’s told me that this is literally the last thing he’ll do,” “He’ll do whatever it takes to get these projects completed.”
