Last year, school was also partially destroyed. The State approved SSP 51,740 for its renovation but the new damage is severe and will need millions of pounds to put it back what it was as building materials are very expensive.

The state government through its ministry of finance approved and released SSP 10,000,000 which was used for construction of temporary structures for the college.

At least 18 lecture halls were put up and furniture and books were purchased from India and china respectively.

The Principal Mr. Peter Dak Dador said the current destruction would cost the state dearly.

“In this current destruction, it may need more funds to renovate the college and its students are still studying in the remaining classes,” Dak said.

“The school was well constructed in an area of 250.000squaremetres and the ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development in the state is also planning to add more land to this key and important capacity building institute,” he said.

Lich University College, founded in May 2010 during the capacity training programme for education managers, which was sponsored by the World Bank and Multi-donor trust fund, currently offers certificates and diplomas in Education, Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance, Public Administration, Food Security and Natural Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Business Management, Procurement and Logistical Management among others.

“The programme trained over 340 education managers so far…It’s the initiative of the government of Unity State to facilitate the capacity building of the people who are working in the State public services, NGOs, Oil companies and other agencies,” Dak said of the achievements of the university.

The college is approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology in the Republic of South Sudan, registered and will issue certificates and diplomas to its students.
