As the feud in Mandela family heats up, Mandla calls AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo delusional while criticizing his attempts to remove him as chief of Mandela clan. Nelson Mandela handpicked his grandson as the chief of his clan; however, recent family disputes have tarnished his reputation and credibility.
“When I was installed as the (Buthelezi clan) chief in the 1950s, the Department of Native Affairs installed and removed a chief. Legislation now has allocated this right to the provinces,” IFP president Mangosuthu Buthelezi said on Monday.
Nelson Mandela remains under critical medical observation while his family engages in media trials and brings family disputes to public platforms. Such feuds have defamed Mandla who is now been targeted by the monarch.
“King Dalindyebo has a habit of making delusional announcements. You do not just wake up and call a meeting of followers and make such a decision,” Mandla said.
Mandela family has been fighting over 94-year-old Nobel Prize winner’s burial place. Mandla was accused of exhuming the graves of Mandela’s three deceased children so he can bury Mandela at their place in the long run. Mandela had once wished to be buried alongside his family. Recently, fifteen family members won a court order to rebury the remains.
Mandla publicly speaks against his family members, who he believes are trying to cash in their family name. He called his brothers illegitimate and accused one of impregnating his wife on a broadcasted show.
