Multidisciplinary artist, Apanaki Temitayo M presents Sankofa: The Journey. She was born in Toronto, but raised in Trinidad and Tobago. With notches as an author, spoken word poet, actor and multimedia artist, her broad range adds rich context to her first solo exit. A graduate of the 1990’s poetry scene, Apanaki Temitayo M’s current expression is through textiles that weave her Caribbean and African heritage into “spirit paintings that dance with textile collages, manifesting in mysterious ways.” Vivid colours and intricate designs dominate Apanaki Temitayo M’s offering which is equal parts bold and tasteful. Be sure to experience the spiritual Journey that is Sankofa – lavish with Diasporic influences, from an artist rich in expression. Apanaki Temitayo M’s other credits include Fresh Arts Literary Journal, Black Girl Talk Anthology, Caribbean Erotic Anthology, Sistagod (Toronto International Film Festival).
