Laemmle Music Hall (Beverly Hills, CA)

Steve Wampler, a husband, father of two and engineer, has a severe form of cerebral palsy, which confines him to an electric wheelchair and affords him the limited use of only one limb, his right arm. Although Wampler can’t drive, use a fork or button his own shirt, he attempts the unbelievably arduous six-day ascent to the summit of Yosemite National Park’s El Capitan Mountain, the biggest sheer rock face in the world. The equivalent of 20,000 pull-ups, this incredible feat takes its toll both physically and mentally, and Wampler suffers from hallucinations, severe dehydration and even loses consciousness. Winner of the Beverly Hills Film Festival’s Golden Palm Award, Wampler’s Ascent is a truly uplifting tale about the power of the human spirit and overcoming life’s challenges.
