As cold tendrils of fall’s chills remind us that staying at home isn’t so bad (home is where books live, after all), between October 24th and November 3rd literature fans will instead be gathering, cardigan clad no doubt, at Harbourfront Centre for readings, interviews, lectures, round table discussions, book signings and awards. Margaret Atwood will be there, along with over 100 other writers including some guy named Stephen King who sounds like a bit of weirdo. http://ifoa.org/festival http://ifoa.org/ Each fall, the International Festival of Authors brings together the worlds best writers of contemporary literature for 11 days of readings, interviews, lectures, round table discussions, public book signings and a number of special events, including readings by Governor Generals Literary Awards and Rogers Writers Trust Fiction Prize finalists, as well as the awarding of the Harbourfront Festival Prize. Every year, the IFOA devotes a number of events to authors and books within a particular focus. This year, we are delighted to present two major focuses: Brave New Word, a programme featuring young and emerging authors from Canada and abroad, and Found in Translation, a yearly Festival focus on the art of literary translation with the goal of increasing Canadian awareness of international talent. In 2013, were putting the spotlight on young authors writing in genres from literary fiction to memoir, poetry to thriller. Join us as we celebrate some of the worlds most exciting new voices with readings, round table discussions and our first-ever FREE Artist Talks, featuring award-winning international writers talking about the unique challenges and opportunities that writing and publishing present today. Available now is a Festival Flex Pass, which offers a chance to purchase a bundle of 10 tickets for one low price of $120 (plus a service charge). To buy your Festival Flex Pass, call the Harbourfront Centre Box Office at 416-973-4000
