Repertory East Playhouse (Newhall, CA)

"Biloxi Blues"

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Neil Simon follows the fish-out-of-water adventures of 20-year-old Eugene Jerome, the naive and lovable Brooklyn kid from Brighton Beach Memoirs, as he arrives in Biloxi, Mississippi for basic training in 1943. That’s where he encounters an odd and eclectic group of fellow recruits — not to mention a sadistic drill sergeant — and has his first tentative experiences with love. Now in its 10th anniversary season, Repertory East Playhouse stages the show that starred Matthew Broderick in both its Tony-winning Broadway run and the 1988 film adaptation.
