Everything about her — from her hardscrabble upbringing to her trademark dreads — suggests an earthiness and honesty that’s rarely seen on the Idol stage. And of course, there’s that voice: bluesy, brilliant and endlessly fascinating. This self-taught songstress has gone on to release two studio albums, performed alongside everyone from Harry Connick Jr. to B.B. King, made her acting debut on the show Body of Proof and appeared on The Tonight Show. Now she brings her folk-rock-country sound to L.A. for a rousing concert performance.
