Ontario’s Liberals have vowed to proceed with their $1 billion spending plan to build a transportation route to the Ring of Fire mineral deposit, with or without financial help from the federal Conservatives. However, the incumbent party has not yet decided from where or when they’ll start building it, or what resources do they plan to exhaust to manage another billion to complete the route in a remote region of northern Ontario in case Ottawa fails to provide the funds.

Instead, the Liberals have alleged that these decisions will be made by a development corporation, which will be set up within 60 days of taking office and include both levels of government, First Nations and private companies. In addition to that, the Liberals have also promised to build more hospices, cap hospital parking fees and help high-school students plan their path to a desired career if they’re re-elected on June 12. Several analysts suspect that these promises are in fact details of their failed May 1 budget, which they planned to reveal later on if things got their way, and are fully budgeted for.

On the other hand, the Liberals have also vowed to improve students’ math scores and physical activity, along with an increase in apprenticeship spaces, which the Progressive Conservatives have also proposed. Whereas, the Liberals have also promised to reduce wait times in five areas by more than 50 per cent and have guaranteed that every resident will have access to a primary care provider, such as doctor or nurse-practioners.
