Hamilton police officer charged with obstructing justice

Today, a Hamilton Police officer was arrested in connection with an on-duty incident.

On January 26, 2015, Hamilton Police identified an inconsistency with the processing of a Provincial Offence Notice.  An investigation was launched and it is alleged that a Hamilton Police officer, while on-duty, unlawfully cancelled documents served upon a driver.

On February 20, 2015, Hamilton Police made the following arrest:

Charged:           Don Sauve, 50 years, Caledonia

Charges:           Obstruct Justice (1 count)

                        Theft (2 counts)

Cst. Sauve, a Division Three Patrol Officer, is a 15-year veteran of the Service.  He was taken into custody and released on a Promise to Appear and will appear before Court on March 19, 2015.  He has been suspended from duty with pay.
