Strathcona County RCMP have confirmed that they are investigating possible connections between a violent home invasion and a stolen vehicle used by suspects of the armed robbery that resulted in slaying of two Mac’s clerks in Edmonton on Friday.

The spokeswoman at Strathcona County RCMP, Const. Chantelle Kelly, elucidated they are looking into the Sherwood Park home invasion that took place on Dec. 13 at 5:02 p.m. She mentioned that “there have not been any arrests, but the investigation is still continuing and all avenues are being taken.”  The vehicle seen in the robbery, Honda Element, was stolen from the house and used in a getaway vehicle in the Dec. 13 Sherwood Park home invasion as well as in the Dec. 18 Edmonton double homicides at two Mac’s convenience stores. In her remarks, Kelly stated that Mounties are investigating links between the suspects in the Sherwood Park home invasion and the suspects in the homicides. Kelly said that “we’re still trying to determine whether it’s the same people involved.”

One victim, Karanpal Bhangu, was shot to death at the Mac’s store near 32 Avenue and 82 Street around 3:30 a.m. on Friday and the same suspects entered the Mac’s store at 108 Street and 61 Avenue to shoot another victim, 41-year-old Ricky Massin Cenabre, to death 15 minutes later. The suspects involved in the case, two men and a 13-year-old boy, are currently facing two counts of first-degree murder charges.
