cameron confesses panama papers revelations mishandledUK’s Prime Minister David Cameron has confessed that he could have handled the row over his financial affairs better as he informed Tory activists that it had “not been a great week” for him. Addressing Conservative activists, he took responsibility for the poor reaction to the controversy over his connection to his late father Ian’s offshore business interests.

Mr Cameron explained that “it has not been a great week. I know that I should have handled this better, I could have handled this better,” adding that “I know there are lessons to learn and I will learn them. Don’t blame Number 10 Downing Street or nameless advisers, blame me.” Four days after the story of the Panama Papers leak first emerged, Mr. Cameron stated on Thursday that in 2010 he and his wife had made a £19,003 profit from shares in Blairmore Holdings, i.e. the fund created by Ian Cameron

Whereas on the other hand, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has demanded Mr Cameron to make a statement to Parliament on Monday to give a “full account of allhis private financial dealings” as he pointed out that the revelations have questioned his “personal integrity.” Moreover, Labour MP John Mann has demanded the Prime Minister to resign and the parliamentary standards commissioner should examine whether Mr Cameron should have declared his profits from the sale of his trust shares in the Commons register of interests. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Downing Street has explained that “the Prime Minister’s interests have always been recorded in line with the rules as they stood at the time.”
