Rahul Ghandi’s recent stinging remarks about radical Hindu groups posing a bigger threat to security of India then the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) has led to heated comments among various groups mainly between Congress and BJP.

Former BJP leader Uma Bharti stated " Congress is an irresponsible party that creates terrorism and seek votes in its name. LTTE which was patronised by Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and the organisation that ultimately took the life of Rajiv in a tragic incident."

While Bal Thackeray stated that his supporters would retaliate if Hindus are unnecessarily targeted, and he further added to Rahul to stop "blabbering."

Adding fuel to this political storm, a leaked US diplomatic cable quotes that Rahul Gandhi stating "Hindu radical groups pose a bigger threat to India than the Lashkar-e-Toiba as they create “religious tension” within the Muslim community".

In a conversation with US Ambassador Timothy Roemer in July last year, Rahul Gandhi is quoted as saying that while there is evidence of local support for the LeT in India, the greater threat for the country is the growth of radicalism within the Hindu community.

Various political parties have demanded an apology from Rahul for his alleged statements on Hindu terror.
