The Chatham-Kent police would like to remind citizens about a fraud that continues to be attempted on citizens.

Police continue to receive reports from citizens that have received phone calls from unknown people purporting to be from various computer anti-virus companies. The caller tells the citizen that their computer has a virus and asks them to provide passwords so they can remotely access the computer to fix the problem.

NEVER give out your personal information to strangers. Should you receive this call, attempt to gather as much information from the person as possible then contact the police. If you have caller ID, record their phone number and provide it to the police. Your questioning will likely scare them off. If you are not comfortable with asking questions, just hang up.
