About YMCA and Y’s Men International
The YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) is one of the oldest and largest movements for the youth in the world. Founded in 1844, it now operates in 125 countries, and has over 45 million members worldwide. The YMCA works to bring social justice and peace to young people and their communities, regardless of religion, race, gender or culture.

The World Alliance of YMCAs, based in Geneva, Switzerland, is a confederation of National Councils of YMCAs around the world.

Y’s Men International was founded in Toledo, Ohio, USA in 1922 to support a local YMCA. It’s now oriented to serving the worldwide YMCA, the largest non-governmental youth organisation, and through it the communities in which it is present throughout the world. Since the YMCA is usually known as “the Y” in the USA, and as the Y’s Men movement started there as a club of “men of and for the Y”, it was named the “Y’s Men’s Club”.

However, today women are also full members of our movement and family participation is encouraged in numerous activities.
