Various Hindu gods and goddesses are reportedly featured in “Religion and Tradition” installation at Lora Robins Gallery of Design from Nature of University of Richmond Museums in Virginia (USA), which will continue till December 31.

It reportedly includes bronze sculpture of Shiva and Parvati, wood sculpture of Ganesha, etc.

Applauding University of Richmond Museums for showcasing Hindu gods and goddesses, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that art had a long and rich tradition in Hinduism and ancient Sanskrit literature talked about religious paintings of deities on wood or cloth.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged major art museums of the world, including Musee du Louvre and Musee d’Orsay of Paris, Los Angeles Getty Center, Uffizi Gallery of Florence (Italy), Art Institute of Chicago, Tate Modern of London, Prado Museum of Madrid, National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, etc., to frequently organize Hindu art focused exhibitions, thus sharing the rich Hindu art heritage with the rest of the world.

Highlights of University of Richmond Museums include a 2,400-carat blue topaz from Brazil, a 165 million year old fossil of an Ichthyosaurus, as well as a vast array of contemporary art, sculpture, and prints.  Richard Waller is Executive Director. The Highly selective University of Richmond, founded 1830, is recognized as one of America’s premier private liberal arts universities. Dr. Edward L. Ayers is the President.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. There are about three million Hindus in USA.
