BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President Anurag Thakur appointed Madhukeshwar Desai as its Vice President on Wednesday. Mahesh Garga from Chhattisgarh, Abhishek Matoria from Rajasthan, Dr Pramod from Goa, Shiv Bhushan Singh from Uttar Pradesh, Gurparvez Shellay from Punjab, and the 25-year-old Desai from Gujarat are among the new office bearers.
Madhukeshwar is the great-grandson of late Prime Minister Morarji Desai. He privately practices law and is active in politics for the last couple of years. The new BJYM team also includes two general secretaries: Rahul Kothari from Madhya Pradesh and Nitin Navin from Bihar.
“The Congress is not the same as it was in Bapuji’s (Morarji Desai’s) time. My experience with BJP in Gujarat has been very good in the past… I was with Advaniji on his yatra, for all 40 days of it. I have worked with BJP in Gujarat earlier and I find myself most comfortable with the party’s ethos and work ethic,” Madhukeshwar said.
Allegedly, Congress has also been considering recruiting Desai. People close to AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi would often talk highly of Desai; however, that plan did not work out. With his response, it seems Madhukeshwar is confident and convinced that BJP is the right choice.
