Second son of former President George H. W. Bush and the younger brother of former President George W. Bush, Jeb Bush, has announced on Tuesday that he will also “actively explore” a 2016 presidential race. According to an update posted on Facebook and Twitter, former Florida governor openly stated that “I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for president of the United States.”

In addition to that, Bush has announced to establish a leadership PAC in order to raise political money “that will help me facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation.” Bush has become the first major Republican candidate to openly claim to be eyeing a White House bid, which is why his decision is anticipated to effect all those considering to do the same, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Serving as Florida’s governor from 1999 to 2007, Bush, has earlier expressed serious concerns about the possible negative impact of a presidential campaign on his family. At the time, it was explained that his wife, Columba, is shy and his daughter, Noelle, went through a drug rehabilitation program. Although the Bush men are seemingly supportive of another presidential race in the family, matriarch Barbara Bush once openly stated that “no more Bushes” should be involved with the White House because other families should also run for political office. However, Jeb Bush and his brother, Neil, recently clarified their mother has come around on the idea.
