It’s going to be a hot night at the Throwback Sizzling Summer Jam as R&B favorites 112, Dru Hill, Silk, Next and more take the stage for a concert of hits both fast and slow. 112 ruled R&B radio in the late-90s with hits such as “Only You,” “Anywhere” and the Grammy-nominated single, “Peaches and Cream.” They also won a Grammy Award in 1997 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, for featuring in the song “I’ll Be Missing You” with Diddy (Puff Daddy) and Faith Evans. Led by the flamboyant Sisqo, Dru Hill was a major player with “In My Bed” and “How Deep Is Your Love.” Another smooth group, Silk, registered two platinum albums thanks to the jams “Freak Me” and “Happy Days,” and Next delivered one of the great club songs with “Too Close.” Take a trip back to the 1990s with this throwback show at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, which also benefits Celerity Schools and Andern Educational Research, Inc.
