Jimmy Garoppolo may join the Raiders
Sources have informed ESPN’s Dianna Russini and Adam Schefter that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers plans to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders. According to Schefter’s source, Garoppolo has agreed to a $67.5 million deal over three years, with $34 million guaranteed. He will be reuniting with Raiders coach Josh McDaniels, who previously served as the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots during Garoppolo’s time there.
The move comes after the Raiders released Derek Carr, their long-time starting quarterback, and Jarrett Stidham, who briefly replaced Carr, is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Denver Broncos to back up Russell Wilson. Garoppolo had spent the past five-plus seasons with the 49ers, leading them to a Super Bowl appearance in 2019 but also dealing with various injuries.
In his time with the 49ers, Garoppolo threw for over 13,000 yards and 82 touchdowns with a completion rate of 67.6%, going 44-19 in his 63 starts. The Raiders also announced the signing of safety Marcus Epps to a two-year, $12 million deal and the return of cornerback Brandon Facyson, who previously played for Las Vegas in 2021.
