On Wednesday, March 30, 2011, during the late afternoon, a repatriation cortege will proceed through Toronto to honour Corporal Yannick Scherrer.

In 2010, the City of Toronto created the “Route of Heroes” to honour all Canadian soldiers who travel the path during their repatriation, having made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Canada.

The official Route of Heroes has not been used for several months, due to construction, but today will mark the return to the official route.

Route:

– southbound Don Valley Parkway, exiting at Bayview/Bloor
– southbound Castle Frank Avenue
– westbound Bloor Street
– southbound Bay Street
– eastbound Grenville Avenue
– northbound St. Luke Lane, ending at the Office of the Coroner

Police remind the public that if you are attending to pay your respects along the route, please do so safely. Do not block any intersections, do not stop your vehicle on the shoulders of the Don Valley Parkway. Obey the direction of police officers assisting with the cortege.
