Canada took a quick lead with a pair of goals inside the first 10 minutes and had a 4-0 lead at the half. Ackinclose sat out the second half after scoring three times in the first 30 minutes.
"We needed to keep the team focused on our game plan and strategies," said coach Drew Ferguson. "For a relatively new team, Finland put up a good showing and should be proud of its effort."
Canadian goals were scored in the 6th (Brown), 7th (Ackinclose), 19th (Ackinclose), 26th (Ackinclose), 46th (McAdam) and 48th (Hodgson) minutes.
For this match, Canada’s starting VII featured Cameron Kleimeer (goal), Chris Duehrsen, John Phillips, Dustin Hodgson, Matthew Brown, Jeremy Baird and Jamie Ackinclose. In the second half, coach Ferguson’s substitutions were Ackinclose off for Brendon McAdam (31st minute), Kleimeer off for Ross MacDonald (42′), and Baird off for Vito Proietti (42′).
Finland’s starting VII featured Jaakko Seppala (goal), Janne Helander, Mikael Jukarainen, Jussi Tuomainen, Johannes Siikonen, Wiljama Laurila, and Samuel Siikonen. In the second half, coach Siikonen replaced Tuominen with Pyry Nopsanen (50′).
