On Thursday, a Delhi court is likely to state its order on the framing of charges against 17 accused people in the 2G scam. Among these people are A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi, the two former telecom ministers.
Because of the hearing of the consecutive arguments on behalf of the accused people and the CBI for a complete month, OP Saini, special CBI Judge, reserved the order on 29th August.
Besides Raja and Kanimozhi, other accused are former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura, Raja’s former personal secretary RK Chandolia, Bollywood filmmaker Karim Morani, DMK-run Kalaignar TV’s MD Sharad Kumar, and Reliance ADAG executives Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair.
Among the accused, these are also Unitech Ltd’s MD Sanjay Chandra, Swan Telecom promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka and directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables, Rajeev Agarwal and Asif Balwa.
Concluding the arguments, UU Lalit, CBI Prosecutor, had reported that there existed "sufficient prima facie" proof against all the accused people to carry on with the trial as all of them were part of the clear conspiracy and the aim to commit crime "may be inferred from their knowledge".
Meanwhile, all the accused people challenged the charges and the appeal of CBI that they caused a loss of Rs 30,984 crore to the state exchequer in the grant of spectrum licenses, the sources reported.
