The new secondary school, Bangasi Academy of Science and Technology situated at Akorogbodi along the Nzara road, was opened on Monday, 21 May 2012.
Addressing the gathering Governor Bakosoro said the school is an initiative by his family in a bid to boost education in the state.
“We believe that establishing this school will help in reducing the cost of sending children overseas in search of quality education”, he said.
He added that the school will also serve as a memorabilia when his tenure as Governor expires.
Governor Bakosoro said the school aims at equipping students with quality science knowledge, adding that the number of students taking science in the state is minimal compared to other states in South Sudan.
He said the institution will be upgraded into a university in future.
The State Minister of Education Pia Phillip encouraged students to be dedicated to education and avoid violent acts that might affect their education.
He pledged the government’s support to boot education in the state.
The permanent school is well equipped with laboratory equipment for practical sciences and is governed by a high level of Board of Governors.
