Salman Khan may be making all the waves as an on-screen Tiger. However off screen, it is Tiger, son of Jackie Shroff, who is seeing quite some attention coming his way. Though during last couple of years there have been quite a few prolific filmmakers who showed good interest in the hunky newcomer, the fact that he chose Sajid Nadiadwala over others indicates a lot more than it reveals.
"Tiger has been slowly but steadily readying himself for his big screen sojourn. There were quite a few filmmakers who had expressed their interest in launching Tiger. In fact, Jackie was a tad overwhelmed with the attention coming his son's way since he had started his career on a very humble note as a sidekick. When Tiger was wooed by these bigwigs, Bollywood was clearly being made available on a platter for the newcomer", comments a source.
In fact when it was first declared that Tiger had an interest in showbiz, the first name that came to everyone's mind was Subhash Ghai. Since the showman had launched Jackie as a lead in Hero and made him a superstar, it was widely assumed that the history would be repeated.
"However, when that didn't materialize, there were also talks of Bhatts showing keen interest in him. Since they too have shared a good relationship with Jackie ever since they worked with him in Kaash, there were feelers shared around roping in Tiger for Jism 2 and then Aashiqui 2", the source continues, "There was no official word around this though and with father-son 'jodi' staying mum, there was further suspense over what they actually had in mind."
This wasn't the end of road for Tiger though as he was in constant touch with Aamir Khan. There were rumours around the actor deciding to launch him in his own production. However, the twist in the tale arrived in the form of two unusual suspects – Farhan Akhtar and Sajid Nadiadwala – who had some serious plans up their sleeves to support Tiger in his Bollywood dreams.
"While Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had Tiger in mind for Reema Kagti's next, Sajid Nadiadwala too had his eyes on Tiger for his next with Sabbir Khan. Former had definitely heard a lot about Tiger from Aamir since he has worked in their Talaash. On the other hand, Sajid really respects Jackie and saw a spark in Tiger. He explained what he had in mind for Tiger's launch and the ball was in newcomer's court now. He decided to hop on to Sajid's side though talks with Farhan for another film are still on", details an insider.
When contacted, Jackie Shroff said, "Sajid is someone who plays on the front foot. He is one of the most lion hearted producers. When he came forward and said that he would launch my boy, I had to say yes."
