Motorcyclist dies in a double vehicle collision near Lepreau, N.B.

A Saint John, N.B. is dead as a result of injuries sustained in a two vehicle collision on the Canada Day weekend.

On July 2, 2012 at approximately 11:15 a.m. District 1 RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 1 near Lepreau, N.B.

The collision occurred when the motorcycle and a vehicle, both heading westbound, collided. The motorcycle was in the passing lane when the collision occurred. The motorcyclist, a 55-year-old man was thrown from the motorcycle. The victim succumbed to his injuries on route to the hospital. The other driver was also taken to hospital for precautionary measures.

An RCMP reconstructionist attended the scene to investigate the cause of the collision.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time. The collision remains under investigation.
