The Operations Director, Dabi Jacob said that the name of the organization is not political and that it is derived from Kiir River in Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

Dabi said the idea came from ambassadors of peace, an organisation that was formed by South Sudanese in East Africa.

He added that the environment is there for the children but what remains are the efforts of the youth and the community to supplement the efforts of the government and the other international NGOs.

He added that in fifteen years from now, they need to see a self reliance South Sudan.

Meanwhile the advisor in the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Peter Sukole Buni hailed the founders of the organisation and called for concerted efforts if the child soldiers are to be transformed into better citizens.

He said that the launch of the organisation is timely and that and that there is need to prepare the unfortunate children into becoming the future leaders of this country.

Sukole said that the child rights act addresses the issues of children and that his ministry will support the foundation.

“I encourage foundation to go ahead with your work and we in the government are in your support,” he said.

The State Minister of Gender and Social Development, Mary Apayi Ayiga who represented the governor as a chief guest at the event said that the governor encouraged the foundation to work hard to transform the youth.

She said that many times people say that they are fighting for the future of the children yet they involve them calling for a stop to recruitment of child soldiers.

“Let’s make sure that these children are not recruited whether it is in tribal war or whatever war because this is the future of South Sudan,” she said.

She also donated 2,000 South Sudanese pounds on behalf of her ministry for the organisation to begin work.
