Deng said there is a need for reforms at all levels of government institutions including the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in a bid to create peace and stability.
Lual who doubled as an activist and a Member of Parliament at the National Assembly spoke during a launch of a report by SUDD Institute in Juba.
The report launched researched on sources of conflict and insecurity in South Sudan. It explored several sources of conflict and insecurity in the country in which security forces have been accused of causing some insecurity.
“I think we need to push all for a political reform within the parties including SPLM so that we do educate our people; the citizens and also the law enforcement organs so that there is general education, the right of citizens also your [civil society] right to criticize us,” Lual said.
He further said that reforms are necessary in all organized forces by instituting professional ethics, adding government needs to institute a common doctrine in the forces.
Prior to independence, South Sudan had experienced insecurity as one of its greatest challenge in the course of the nation building beside economic challenge.
Last year the government came under criticism by citizens on increased insecurity in the country.
South Sudanese President Salva Kiir had last year continuously warned the police for failing to restore the rule of law and order.
