The victim of Punjab police’s brutality stays firm and determined despite receiving several threats by anonymous sources. 22-year-old Harbinder Kaur was beaten up by the officers of Punjab police force in Taran Taran district.

“I was thrashed, slapped and beaten by some Punjab policemen when I and my father approached them with a complaint of sexual harassment by truck drivers in Tarn Taran district,” said Kaur.

Allegedly, Kaur was on her way to attend a wedding at Gobindwal road where some drunken truck drivers misbehaved with her. The attackers became hostile when Kaur’s father resisted them.

“Those truck drivers created nuisance and then I and my father approached the Punjab policemen for help but they too sided with the truck drivers and abused me and my father,” Kaur alleged. “I will not budge. I will not succumb to any pressure. I will fight for justice.”

According to Kaur, the involved policemen have been threatening her ever since she decided to demand justice. She seems strong and refuses to give up.

“The policemen threatened to take me to the police station where I would be badly assaulted by them and asked me to keep quiet,” she said.

“I have got no assurance from anyone in this regard but I will continue my fight for justice. I am just a class 10th educated woman but when I can fight for justice why can’t the young and educated women of India raise their voice against such incidents.”

Two police officers have been suspended while the SP at Taran Taran is reportedly investigating the incident.
