In a press conference held in Malakal, Governor Simon Kun Puoc urged the entire population to stand behind the courageous decision made by President Kiir to make a slant government in the country.
“We are here telling the people of South Sudan and the entire world that the government of Upper Nile supports the president’s bold decision of removing members of his cabinet to allow him create a lean government,” Kun said.
The governor said that any government in the world can reshuffle the cabinet to bring those that are capable and can serve the nation.
“This decision cannot shock people, nor should it cause panic. There is no need for panicking. Our president is operating within his constitutional mandate,” he noted.
Kun highly praised the decree and described it as another way of the fighting the corruptions that many people don’t want in South Sudan.
“South Sudan has been accused of corrupt elements in the cabinet, wasting public money for their interest, diverting it to individuals’ pockets,” he said adding that, “This is another way of eliminating the corrupt government officials.”
He said that it is in the interest of the president to bring services to the local
population and he needs to be supported
“Nobody should work against the president’s decision,” he added.
The governor warned those who have negative interpretations on the cabinet dissolution to drop their wrong ideas and wait patiently the next coming cabinet.
“It is only the president that has the power to dismiss any person in his government, whether; it is the Vice president, ministers or deputies. He is the very person who appoints them so he can dismiss them using the same powers. We can only say bravo to president Kiir and bravo to the SPLM party for making the decision according to the people’s interest,” Kun said.
