Latin musician Pepe Aguilar is not only famous in his native country of Mexico, but is hugely popular in Southern California. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, has received the keys to the city of Los Angeles and has packed the house at some of the Southland’s biggest venues, including the Hollywood Bowl, the Kodak Theater and now the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal Citywalk. Aguilar plays ranchera, a Mexican music style that came out of the ranches of the Mexican countryside during the Mexican Revolution. Aguilar mixes this traditional genre with modern pop influences to create a fresh new sound that has earned him multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards and kept his album Por Mujeres Como Tu on the Mexican and Latin charts for almost a year.
