A man faces multiple charges in connection with a series of late night break and enters into homes in Bedford and Rockingham.

As part of the on-going investigation into this matter, members of the West Quick Response Unit arrested a 22-year-old man outside his residence on Waegwoltic Avenue on the evening of Friday, September 3. Officers allege that he is responsible for entering a number of homes through open/unlocked doors or windows late at night in Ridgevale, Eaglewood, Basinview and Rockingham subdivisions over the summer.

Twenty-two-year-old Craig Kyle Gilbert of Halifax was held over the weekend and was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today charged with eight counts of break, enter and theft, and one count of attempt break and enter.

Even with the arrival of the cooler weather, police remind citizens to lock their doors and windows and secure their homes to prevent crimes of opportunity from occurring.
