A 55-year-old Oshawa resident sustained serious head and ear injuries during a robbery attempt yesterday in Oshawa.

On Monday September 6, 2010 at approximately 3:50 a.m. the victim attended the residence of a couple on Celina Street in Oshawa. Upon arrival, the accused couple demanded the personal property of the victim, including his money and a physical altercation ensued. A portion of the victim’s ear was torn or cut away during the assault and the victim also sustained head injuries which were non-life-threatening. The victim escaped the residence and took a taxi to a nearby residence where police were called.

The victim received medical attention at a local hospital and was later released. Investigators do not believe this was a random act.

Virginia COCHRANE, age 27 and Abel MACNEIL, age 28 of Celina Street in Oshawa are charged with: Robbery. MACNEIL is further charged with Aggravated Assault. Both accused were held for a bail hearing.
